Private alpine guiding
From flowing granite ridges to long, remote traverses: explore the rock climbs of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps with a local mountain guide.
Rock, ridge and altitude
On an alpine ridge, the approach, the quality of the rock and the way down are all part of the day. We choose a line that suits your climbing experience, fitness and appetite for exposure, then adapt our plan to the mountain conditions.
These are guided alpine and high alpine climbs, often with a hut night. The tours below are a selection of what is possible around Obergurgl, in the Kaunergrat and in the Stubai Alps.

An airy, little travelled climb from the Ramolhaus.
After a hut night at the Ramolhaus we reach the Ramoljoch and climb over the Kleiner Ramolkogel to the Mittlerer Ramolkogel. The south ridge offers varied rock climbing and exposed passages in generally good rock. We descend via the northeast ridge and Ramolferner to the hut.
You should be sure-footed and comfortable following pitches up to upper UIAA III in exposed alpine terrain.
The south ridge pairs well with the Seven 3,000ers traverse for a high alpine weekend based at the Ramolhaus.

A long, lonely skyline traverse from the Ramolhaus back towards Obergurgl.
You make your own way to the Ramolhaus the day before and meet your guide over dinner. With an early start we enter the Ramol ridge, linking a succession of 3,000-metre summits towards the Zirmkogel before descending via the Gurglerscharte to Obergurgl.
The source itinerary describes around 14 kilometres, 900 metres of ascent and 2,000 metres of descent on the main day. Much of the ground is easier climbing, but speed, endurance and sure footing matter. The precise start and summit sequence are agreed in advance.
Combine this traverse with the Mittlerer Ramolkogel South Ridge for a high alpine weekend from the Ramolhaus. We adapt the order and length of the programme to your fitness and the conditions.

Airy granite, towers and slabs on a great ridge above the Sulztalferner.
From the Amberger Hut we approach the east ridge beside the Sulztalferner. Granite slabs, pinnacles and exposed traverses lead to the summit; we descend via the southwest ridge and Wilde Leck Ferner. The approach to the hut can be arranged as a separate day.
A full alpine climbing day with passages up to lower UIAA IV. The exact descent and equipment depend on current snow and rock conditions.

The classic high alpine line to the highest summit of the Kaunergrat.
The Kaunergrathütte is our base for this long summit day. We follow the east ridge, the mountain’s normal route, through exposed rock and mixed alpine terrain. The descent follows the established route, with the details set according to conditions.
This is a serious high mountain objective. Sure-footed movement, comfort with exposure and experience climbing in mountain boots are important.
Combine the Watzespitze East Ridge with the Parstleswand East Ridge for an alpine weekend. With an extra day at the Kaunergrathütte, the Verpeilspitze North Ridge or Watzespitze North Ridge may be further options for experienced climbers, subject to conditions.

Twelve pitches of enjoyable alpine rock above the Kaunergrathütte.
From the Kaunergrathütte we approach via the Steinbockjoch and cross block terrain to the start of the east ridge. Around 250 vertical metres of climbing lead to the eastern summit. We descend by the normal route.
The hut approach can be done the previous afternoon, leaving the following day for the climb.
This route and the Watzespitze East Ridge make a rewarding alpine weekend. For a longer stay at the Kaunergrathütte, we can also discuss the Verpeilspitze North Ridge or Watzespitze North Ridge, depending on your experience and the conditions.

A long ridge climb through solid gneiss above the Mittertal.
From the Längental reservoir we walk into the Mittertal. The northeast arête of the Maningkogel leads towards the Acherkogel, with around 550 metres of rock climbing. We return by the Mittertalscharte.
A satisfying day for climbers who move efficiently on varied alpine rock and have the stamina for a long approach and descent.
